MANILA – At least six foreign countries are offering frigates to the Philippines after the Department of National Defense (DND) expressed interest in purchasing at least two more warships to boost territorial defense amid the dispute at West Philippine Sea. PHL looking to 6 countries for new frigates

Naval helicopters to be delivered by 2014

MANILA — With the signing of the contract of agreement for the Philippines’ three naval helicopters a done deal, the Dept. of National Defense expects the aircraft to be delivered and commissioned by 2014.   This is expected to gain impetus with the submission of the letter of credit to the manufacturer, AugustaWestland S.P.A., within the first quarter of 2013. MANILA, Philippines – The Department of National Defense (DND) has signed contracts for the purchase of three naval helicopters and 60 field ambulances worth P1.6 billion. The three AW 109 Power Helicopters cost P1.34 billion while the 60 units of 1.25-ton field ambulance amounted to P300.78 million.
